Hi! Me, John and Ruth are in a band together called Kin Shot and we’ve uploaded two demo songs to show people/hopefully get shows and so on before working on a future release.  We’ve played/continue to play in some bands separately such as Man Hands, Bird Calls, Sky Lark! and What Price, Wonderland?.  Hope you like it!

Kin Shot did a music last night and we played the notes in the right order at the right times and some kind soul filmed it too! Vested Interest put on a rad fucking double show, we had a bloody lovely time, and a bunch of people were really nice to us. All in all well good.

new band doing music, last night was really really fun.

Unreleased LP, by Bird Calls

A brief message from beyond the grave to let you know that our unreleased LP is now up for free stream/download on bandcamp.  Ok bye.

And here’s the much more user-friendly bandcamp version of the unreleased Bird Calls LP.  Thus ends the spam, hope you enjoy it.

Bird Calls - Unreleased LP

My old band, Bird Calls, which existed for a few years, recorded an album just before we broke up last August. We were hoping to release it as an LP but we felt it would be too much of a monetary risk for the DIY labels who (very kindly) offered to help put it out considering we wouldn’t be playing shows etc. to get the word out about it.

So we just decided, in the end, to put it online - please feel free to download it, shared it and hopefully some of you will get a kick out of it. If you like rev summer/90s emo/twangs/Tubers then maybe you’ll like this.

i tried to write a long spiel about what bird calls meant to me as a band, and it’ll never be finished. in short, 3 of the best people i know formed the best band this country had and spent a year and a half putting up with me jocking the shit out of them (to the point i organised a trip to richmond around their US tour). we shared cars, weird basement bills and homes and i spent most of that time in tears laughing. it still bugs me i never managed to take a decent photograph of them.

i hope this sees a release one day, it deserves it. this is a perfect record and the last song never fails to kick me in the gut. a true punk band in practise and you fucked up if you didn’t see them.

FFO: RVIVR, sweet female attitude, lizard conspiracies, ruff ryders, disturbed.

someone should re up this with ID tags etc and so it can be downloaded without signing up to mediafire, or just bandcamp it

Bird Calls was a band, but now they are not

Following Joe’s suggestion, here’s the LP re-upped on bandcamp for free streaming or download with ID tags included (hopefully).

And thanks so much to everyone for being nice.  Particularly Sean, that means a hell of a lot coming from you, thanks buddy.x

Saw lots of great bands yesterday - but thought this lot deserve a mention.  Never seen them before but supported Twisted/Broken Arm last night.

It stylistically goes a lot of different places - ‘arty’ post punk one minute, big jangly DC vibes the next.  Has some great poppy bits, then suddenly gets abrasive.  Not quite sure how to pigeon hole it -  closest bands I can think of is maybe Unwound, Antioch Arrow, Clikitat Ikatowi, The VSS - stuff like that.  If they were from the US a few years back, I reckon Gravity records would have put out a 7”.

But yeah totally recommend them if you get the chance to see em out in London.

Tubers/Brainworms - Split 7”

Underlying love for both these bands.
